Minoru was waiting behind the bar. The man he had...befriended...was slightly late, and he was starting to get ever-so-slightly irritated at him. Luckily, he had a worn copy of Miyamoto Musashi's The Five Rings in his hand, which he found in the garbage and carried around in cases of extreme boredom such as this one. It, even though it was written by a human, inspired him with its tales of ancient bushido, the philosophy thereof, and the times when men in Japan were men who were not afraid to fight instead of Westernized pansies.
"Hmmph. Perchance he is not as dependable as I had hoped." Maybe the other man was too unpredictable; maybe he was more like an axe-murderer who slaughtered only the weak while overlooking a truly worthy opponent, unlike himself. He killed for a purpose. He killed for meaning. He killed to resolve his own bitter conflicts, and for the justice that he had sought since he was young, unlike some hackneyed slasher he had seen in so many horror movies. He was never going to be a clichéd villian, ever.
He heard the sound of insane cackling before him. He looked up from his reading, saw the man, and somehow knew it was him.
