Summary: Kadaj meets up with Shinji after the whole fiasco.

Shinji slipped outside room #208 for a few gulps of fresh air. Finally, he and Bridget had situated the two injured ones, seen to their wounds, and bandaged them to the best of their ability. He hadn't touched the comm. until recently because of the enormous task. It hadn't left much time to think. In his case, that was a precious gift. Too much of the past several days weighed on him--and he couldn't even recall the entirety of it.
His breath unfurled into the chill air, white and comforting, fleeting.
Too much. He couldn't sort it out, but he felt a certain strength, a hope, along with the added trouble. He felt a true reluctance toward his own death, but it hadn't stopped him from offering it. His guilt hadn't won, but only because of Johnny's intercession. Then, the two of them, along with Bridget, had managed to restore Testament's human form. No one had died. No one. Not--by his brother's hand.
But Shinji would owe him forever. A weight he couldn't forget, but he couldn't ignore something else--the worth of these other people. The ones he and Testament would have selfishly discarded, in their own way. He weighed his guilt in the balance of that and found it wanting. So, he would push it down, as far as it would go. No one else would suffer for his own pain. He wouldn't allow it.
He stared into the blurred, broken shapes of Discedo, his eyes trying to shape a certain person out of them. One he wanted to see the most.
