the log:

This was insane. It had happened so fast that it had taken him a minute just to figure out what had gone wrong. It had taken finding a cracked mirror in an old building to convince him that he'd actually been changed into some kind of animal and not just horribly mutated. A too-big muzzle with huge teeth, yellow eyes, paws instead of hands- but it wasn't just that; the claws on his front paws were far too long for him to walk properly on all fours. By some instinct and a little practice he'd figured out that he could walk on his knuckles instead. He could even balance on his hind legs, though his body seemed to be permanently hunched no matter how he stood, the main weight of it concentrated toward the front.

Every aspect of the body felt wrong, grotesque. And yet the more he used it, the more natural it felt. He had no idea how long he'd have to stay like this; it couldn't hurt to adapt. Still, the last thing he needed was to be killed by one of his own friends...

Which was why he was sprinting towards the front door of the bar, already catching Shinji's scent thanks to an already enhanced sense of smell now increased quite a bit more. Shinji knew him better than anyone in this Godforsaken place. If there was a chance in hell that he could convince anyone here that it was him and not some monster, the one he could convince would have to be Shinji. He nearly barreled into the the door before he remembered he couldn't just reach out and open it. He nudged it open with his nose instead, padding inside and coming to a stop as he spotted Shinji. It was strange, seeing him from such a low angle. He froze there, watching him, realizing it would be best to let him make the next move. For the love of God, please don't try and shoot me. He could always run back outside, just hide somewhere and watch the comm for a solution...
