With that distance between them, enough so that Taiwan can hear and not quite see more than the dim light reflecting off glass frames; anything else was simply lost in the darkness. But she'd know that voice anywhere and the words scare her in completely the wrong way, because that wasn't how America spoke, that wasn't the way he dealt with things, ever, and even here in this place...

She takes a step back, instinctively, but otherwise she stands her ground.

"W-what are you saying, I don't...? Ameri...Alfred...?" Her voice stutters a little on his name; she doesn't use it very often. "Are you all right...?"

And takes another step closer.
