Oh, there's definitely something up. But I'm afraid it'll probably be more nefarious than "oh no, our friends and loved ones are kidnapped! Come save them!" The fact that I don't smell anyone on this stuff [ besides your hippy stank ] also applies to the people who left this shit behind. I don't smell them. Which means they're either really clever or this stuff has been waiting in this city for a long time. [ and then she starts licking everything. ]

[She was only half listening because this door was starting to annoy her. The basics were not cutting it. So she stopped her barrage of stars and gave it a momentary thought.]

Why run away from somethin' that should go down?

[She put her broom down, putting a foot on it to make sure it didn't get snatched or suddenly disappear on her. She held her hands together and muttered a incantation. A star formed in her hands but after a moment, it burst into flame. She flung the flaming star at the door, hoping to st least see SOME damage being done to the thing. It's smile was starting to annoy her.

[She cuts herself off with another chitter, peering all the way down the stairwell.

The door disintegrates! Much like burning a piece of tissue paper. There are a few shreds of smoldering black left, but those are easy enough to brush away.]

[ Oh, she made a valid point... ] Maybe. I wouldn't put it past this place. [ He backs up a little, turning to face her. ]

If there's actually a kid though... [ He ruffles his hair and scoffs. ] Okay. You wanna wait out here, or come with me?

[She picks the broom off the ground and walks towards the end of the stairs to make sure that they were both okay. That thing just told her that this place was just as bad as Discedo if not worse.]

I coulda started with fire when it attacked. But I waited, just ta be nice. Besides, now we know how to deal with the things, whatever they are.

[Okay..She wasn't sure if the fire would even work, but she was glad it did.]

Beyond the doorframe, there were the standard expected features; cubicles, what were probably offices, sometimes twisty hallways.]

[Not far off River turns the corner and spots a familiar face. There's a quick glance to her scanner before she pockets it while keeping her gun in easy drawing distance.]

I see you found more of the graffiti. It seems to be everywhere.

Other than a lack of human life signs or Tenchi and Sasami's energy signatures? Not a damned thing other than the graffiti.

[She sighed and moved to look at some of the case files he's discarded.]

[ A rest is hardly something that Sasuke wants, but it may very be something that he needs. Working himself to exhaustion is nothing new; if left alone it's likely that he would stop only when his body failed him. Truly unwise, but after receiving that kind of letter... Moderation has never been his strong suit anyhow.

It's fortunate that he comes across Clive for this reason, needing an excuse to take his mind off of that sole focus. ] Clive. [ A dark gaze sweeps over those bodies but he makes no remark on them, not yet. ]

Alright. [ He pulls her gently by the hand inside; it's good to get out of the fog, but it's eerily dark.

He uses his communicator to cast a dim light. Looks like a general store... ] Don't think they'd be in here, but-

[ The laughter's closer and he stiffens, shining the light in one direction quickly. ] Tch...
