The Log:

[ This is an open log for those who wish to explore Lachesistein freely, and it can take place any time between July 16th and 26th. For more information on Lachesistein, please refer to the Exploration plotting post. If something comes up at all, make sure to contact a mod with your questions or concerns.

[ He scales the stairs a short distance from Sasuke, fire poker held aloft. He waits for the other's word and moves first into the hallway carefully when it's cleared, eyes as wide as ever. Back to a wall, he slinks down to the nearest doorframe and takes a look around the corner.

Inside, a gold sphere. He straightens, examining it curiously. Waving his comrade over, he gives a subtle shrug and places his hands on his hips. ] Musta rolled a little or something. Whaddaya think it- ah. [ There's clicking and whirring and the ball is rolling towards them. ]

[ Suigetsu's wave is almost unnecessary; that relaxed posture more than signals his skepticism of any real danger. He steps closer, finding the gaudy object unimpressive himself until it begins to move. ] Some oversized mechanical toy? [ The words have barely escaped before that sphere starts shifting, the quiet clanks of metal accompanying the transformation. It's humanoid, the thing that's emerged from the top half, wielding some kind of unfamiliar weapon while continuing to roll forward. ] Che...

[ He might not be as fast as before but still Sasuke's speed is impressive as he darts forward past this new enemy, slicing at it and knocking its weapon from its hand in the process. ] Suigetsu, now. [ Already he's turning to aim another attack at it from behind. He'd rather bludgeon it into stillness now than wait to see what else it could do. ]

Woah! [ Suigetsu seems intrigued when it transforms, noting the gears and cogs, the strange writing all over it; ancient hieroglyphs or something. But he's not staring at its body. Sasuke disarms the piece of dangerous technology and its weapon clatters to the ground, sliding only to bump into his feet. ]

Don't even have to tell me! [ He exclaims, scooping up the sword-like object, reaching up to block a swing of its heavy arm with its own broken piece. Suigetsu slashes at its gut with the fire poker, pushes its arm away with a grunt of effort before stabbing down to pierce its spherical base, effectively pinning it in place. ]

Your turn! [ He calls to Sasuke, smirking broadly. He hasn't gotten to fight in a while. It feels good, man. ]

[ This would be much easier with his abilities and the electrical current he usually runs through that sword, but perhaps having a handicap can make things interesting on occasion. If he has to adjust for having a weaker blade, well... He'll simply have to concentrate on a weaker target.

The thin pieces of metal connecting the torso to that previously mobile sphere are cut through with comparative ease following another slice, a chunk of metal falling to the floor noisily. ] Looks like it doesn't speak. Maybe it can still be useful in another way. [ Hints of some kind would be great, at least. Sasuke stabs his chokuto down through its other arm, leaving it as alive as it could be but essentially helpless to do anything. ]

In what way could this pile of junk be useful to us? [ Suigetsu abandons the fire poker in the belly of the gold metal beast in favour of hefting the heavy Dwemer artifact in his hands. He smoothes a palm over the flat-side of gritty blade, noting the sharp edge despite it looking many years old. ]

Except for scavenging. What an exotic looking sword. There's a spring inside this... [ He gives it a practice swing, the same as he had on the hearth downstairs. Seemingly satisfied, he tucks it into his belt and looks over the robot carefully. ] Maybe some scraps from this thing would come in handy.

Scraps? We don't need any scraps. [ What are you, Suigetsu, an Argonian? Does that make him a Dunmer? Regardless, it's safe to say that he has all the metal on his person that he can imagine needing. Which is a fair amount. ]

Looks like you found something else of use, however. [ No helpful markings or messages... But still Sasuke considers it meaningful. Some sort of automated bodyguard, perhaps, and it wouldn't be here if it didn't have something worth protecting. ]

Alright, well this is good enough for me. [ He's patting the sword at his side. Frankly, he's a little surprised at how heavy it is - it seems this isn't your traditional kind of metal, or gold for that matter. It looks foreign, almost eaten away, but still as sturdy as ever.

How was he going to break it to Sasuke he'd be lugging something weighty around again? ... Well, he could always let him find out when they start walking. He'd need a break soon. ] Whaddaya think? Wanna keep looking here? This thing doesn't look like it has any friends around.

[ That sword receives a small fraction of his focus before Sasuke is again looking around the sparsely decorated room. ]

No. We came here for one reason and we're going to stay focused on that. Don't get distracted, alright?

I know that. But really, houses aren't the place we should be looking, Sasuke. They're small, not large enough to house multiple bodies if our brothers really have been abducted. I say we go look in the school.

[ He crouches, unfolds the map he yanked from the train and hits it with the backs of his fingers. ] Then the mall, then maybe the warehouses over here. School's the closest. But they may want us to look there.

And they seem to have anticipated we'd stop here too if everyone has recently cleared out and this thing was lying in wait. We don't have the advantage here... not tactically. We never did. I accept that.

Now's not the time to worry about traps, not if we're already here. If the school is closest then that's where we'll head.

Well, if they have an ambush planned, let 'em come. I'm more than ready to get a little action. [ He pats the golden robot on the shoulder, smirking. It tries to swipe at him, but the sword arm twitches uselessly at its side. ]

You wanna leave your new pal here, Sasuke? I thought you figured he was useful for something? I mean we could always come back to retrieve him, but he looks pretty heavy. [ He starts for the door, feeling the weight of the sword against his thigh. ]

At least he won't be running anywhere with that fire poker in his gut.

You joke too often. [ Or Sasuke doesn't joke enough. Or both. Both is looking pretty likely. And really taking a small jibe at Suigetsu helps him in calming down and noticing his own somewhat erratic reasoning. Forming a plan in such unfavorable circumstances and with something so potentially important at stake -- he knows that resurrection is possible here -- isn't as easy for him as he makes it seem. ]

Perhaps the next fight will yield something better. [ An opponent that could speak and offer information would be convenient. Sasuke takes a last look at that creature before leaving that room himself, sparing the rest of the second floor a cursory once-over and nothing more. The flashlight downstairs is snatched up, however, and added to his belongings just in case. ] If there's anything you think you'll need, get it now.

[ Suigetsu follows Sasuke downstairs, but splits off at the front hallway to check the small basement below. There are only boxes and dust, nothing disturbed, nothing out of the ordinary. He sniffs, shaking his head, then ascends to meet Sasuke at the door. He's grabbing that lighter first, though. ]

I don't need anything from this place. The school and the shopping district will probably gimme more options. I got this sword anyway. [ He pushes open the front door and assesses the fog, almost welcoming it. He'd much rather a wide open space to fight in regardless. ]

[ No doubt Suigetsu is more familiar with and comfortable in fog than he himself is. The majority of memories that he associates with such conditions are decidedly negative, after all. ]

Good. You'll be more useful with a weapon like that. [ And naturally everything he says comes across as unnecessarily harsh, but to be fair it's true. ] Until we know more about what we're dealing with we'll stay together. [ Sasuke enjoys splitting up, what can he say. ]

[ Fog is his home. He adores fog. The advantage is his in all foggy situations.

Suigetsu doesn't contest his first statement, mainly because he knows it's true. He is ten times as deadly with a sword, not a bad thing to be ashamed of. So he holds his head high and sighs. He hates being tied to a team, to have to look out someone other than number one. But if it's Sasuke, it's bearable. ]

Yeah, yeah. So long as you don't disappear again. [ He motions ahead. ] There's the school anyway. [ A few seconds later it appears, looming in the fog, scribbled graffiti cautioning visitors. ]

Spooky.

You really do have good instincts in this kind of weather. As expected. [ He had good reasons for choosing Suigetsu; his close proximity at the time wasn't even one of them. Sasuke would've had no qualms with traveling through more than one country to get what he wanted. ]

I'm not going anywhere. Stay close to me as well, especially if something like this intimidates you.

What can I say. I'm in my element. Kufufufufufu. [ Oh god, at least Sasuke wouldn't realize how bad of a joke he just made. Thank you, seriousness.

Nodding, Suigetsu stretches his hands behind his head and sighs. ] I just said it was creepy, not that I was intimidated by it!

[ What's a joke. Which cheese isn't his. He doesn't understand. The chicken crossed the road because it had business on the other side of it, obviously. Maybe someone tossed out some corn or something. ]

It's not much of a leap. Just keep in mind that you're probably the most dangerous thing to prowl in mists like this one. [ It's hard to be scared of monsters roaming around when you're the monster, right? It seems like a good way to encourage him. ]

[ It works. Consider him encouraged. It's not very hard to stroke his ego. ]

Pft, that isn't even up for debate. Let's show these monsters the right way to scare someone~

[ With that he shoves the double doors to the school open. ]

Sure. Just don't get ahead of yourself. [ Sasuke has no doubt that if they had their chips removed they would've already cleared out the area. He also has no doubt that it their brothers really have been somehow resurrected and brought here, those scientists will end up regretting that decision. Greatly.

He steps inside, hand already firmly on the hilt of his sword. ] The letter you received. Did it include any useful details?

[ Suigetsu slips in before Sasuke, patrolling the lobby, sword resting on his shoulder. He swings it in practice, then rests the tip on the floor with a dull clank, surprised with how hardy it is. ]

Nah. Leave it to that guy to omit important details. [ He's silent for a moment. Then he turns to his partner, expression neutral. ] What about your brother's letter?

[ Predictably he's silent himself after that question, as he often is at any mention of Itachi. There's little change in his countenance though it takes a bit of effort. ]

He's never been very open with me. He wouldn't start now.

I have questions that I can ask him if he really is here.

Yeah, tell me about it. [ He has tons of questions for Mangetsu. ]

... But we should start in big areas, like the gym. Anywhere bodies can be holed up.

[ Your effort to change the topic of conversation does not go unnoticed, Suigetsu. ]

You're right. Though it seems unwise to keep such powerful captives together. [ Already he's examining an old map kept in a dirty display case hanging on the wall, despite having difficulties reading it. ]

[ Suigetsu is meandering a small ways away, scuffing his heels on the floor as he waits. ]

'Less they're keeping 'em sedated, but that'd only work on your brother. [ It's only a factual statement. Mangetsu wouldn't be affected by the drug. Unless they chipped him too. He raises a hand to brush a finger over his lip, humming a short note. ]

Done squinting at that thing? Where's the gym at?
