The Log:

[ This is an open log for those who wish to explore Lachesistein freely, and it can take place any time between July 16th and 26th. For more information on Lachesistein, please refer to the Exploration plotting post. If something comes up at all, make sure to contact a mod with your questions or concerns.

[ Suigetsu follows Sasuke downstairs, but splits off at the front hallway to check the small basement below. There are only boxes and dust, nothing disturbed, nothing out of the ordinary. He sniffs, shaking his head, then ascends to meet Sasuke at the door. He's grabbing that lighter first, though. ]

I don't need anything from this place. The school and the shopping district will probably gimme more options. I got this sword anyway. [ He pushes open the front door and assesses the fog, almost welcoming it. He'd much rather a wide open space to fight in regardless. ]

[ No doubt Suigetsu is more familiar with and comfortable in fog than he himself is. The majority of memories that he associates with such conditions are decidedly negative, after all. ]

Good. You'll be more useful with a weapon like that. [ And naturally everything he says comes across as unnecessarily harsh, but to be fair it's true. ] Until we know more about what we're dealing with we'll stay together. [ Sasuke enjoys splitting up, what can he say. ]

[ Fog is his home. He adores fog. The advantage is his in all foggy situations.

Suigetsu doesn't contest his first statement, mainly because he knows it's true. He is ten times as deadly with a sword, not a bad thing to be ashamed of. So he holds his head high and sighs. He hates being tied to a team, to have to look out someone other than number one. But if it's Sasuke, it's bearable. ]

Yeah, yeah. So long as you don't disappear again. [ He motions ahead. ] There's the school anyway. [ A few seconds later it appears, looming in the fog, scribbled graffiti cautioning visitors. ]

Spooky.

You really do have good instincts in this kind of weather. As expected. [ He had good reasons for choosing Suigetsu; his close proximity at the time wasn't even one of them. Sasuke would've had no qualms with traveling through more than one country to get what he wanted. ]

I'm not going anywhere. Stay close to me as well, especially if something like this intimidates you.

What can I say. I'm in my element. Kufufufufufu. [ Oh god, at least Sasuke wouldn't realize how bad of a joke he just made. Thank you, seriousness.

Nodding, Suigetsu stretches his hands behind his head and sighs. ] I just said it was creepy, not that I was intimidated by it!

[ What's a joke. Which cheese isn't his. He doesn't understand. The chicken crossed the road because it had business on the other side of it, obviously. Maybe someone tossed out some corn or something. ]

It's not much of a leap. Just keep in mind that you're probably the most dangerous thing to prowl in mists like this one. [ It's hard to be scared of monsters roaming around when you're the monster, right? It seems like a good way to encourage him. ]

[ It works. Consider him encouraged. It's not very hard to stroke his ego. ]

Pft, that isn't even up for debate. Let's show these monsters the right way to scare someone~

[ With that he shoves the double doors to the school open. ]

Sure. Just don't get ahead of yourself. [ Sasuke has no doubt that if they had their chips removed they would've already cleared out the area. He also has no doubt that it their brothers really have been somehow resurrected and brought here, those scientists will end up regretting that decision. Greatly.

He steps inside, hand already firmly on the hilt of his sword. ] The letter you received. Did it include any useful details?

[ Suigetsu slips in before Sasuke, patrolling the lobby, sword resting on his shoulder. He swings it in practice, then rests the tip on the floor with a dull clank, surprised with how hardy it is. ]

Nah. Leave it to that guy to omit important details. [ He's silent for a moment. Then he turns to his partner, expression neutral. ] What about your brother's letter?

[eyeforaneye]

[ Predictably he's silent himself after that question, as he often is at any mention of Itachi. There's little change in his countenance though it takes a bit of effort. ]

He's never been very open with me. He wouldn't start now.

I have questions that I can ask him if he really is here.

Yeah, tell me about it. [ He has tons of questions for Mangetsu. ]

... But we should start in big areas, like the gym. Anywhere bodies can be holed up.

[eyeforaneye]

[ Your effort to change the topic of conversation does not go unnoticed, Suigetsu. ]

You're right. Though it seems unwise to keep such powerful captives together. [ Already he's examining an old map kept in a dirty display case hanging on the wall, despite having difficulties reading it. ]

[ Suigetsu is meandering a small ways away, scuffing his heels on the floor as he waits. ]

'Less they're keeping 'em sedated, but that'd only work on your brother. [ It's only a factual statement. Mangetsu wouldn't be affected by the drug. Unless they chipped him too. He raises a hand to brush a finger over his lip, humming a short note. ]

Done squinting at that thing? Where's the gym at?

[ A lengthy silence. ]

...

You alright, Sasuke?

[ For a moment there's no answer, something typical of him when he gets like this. It's not necessary for him to shake away those thoughts, only for his composure to remain. Not a dent.

Sasuke shifts his weight as he takes a step back, finally turning his head to meet that quizzical stare. There's no reason to fabricate some intricate lie or front; that's much more like Suigetsu's easy-going style. There's just a choice of answering or ignoring it. ] The gym is in another building. We can get there from the last hallway on the left, here.

And I don't understand why you'd ask something like that. I haven't slowed down.

[ If there's one person Suigetsu understands, it's Sasuke. How he works, deflects topics... ]

Eeeeh? Hold up, Sasuke, I'm not moving until you tell me what's been eating you. You know, I'm not as stupid as you make me out to be. [ Perceptive eyes narrow. He's seen the fight with Killer Bee, Sasuke. He knows something is up and he'll be just as stubborn as you about it! ]

So, what's up?

[ Already Sasuke had taken a few steps down that expansive and eerily empty hallway, only stopping when Suigetsu makes his position clear.

He considers how to answer. Really considers it. He considers the months he's been here as well, and how it had felt to have someone from his world around again that didn't just carry unpleasant reminders for him. He also considers the people he has left to talk to that he thinks would understand.

There's not really anyone like that. But Suigetsu is here, as usual, waiting. Who would be more fitting? ] ... This place does a lot of strange things. Knowing that, I don't expect our brothers to actually be here. But the thought of making an amend isn't something that's easy to get out of my head.

[ Suigetsu enjoys the times Sasuke decides to trust him with what he's truly feeling.

Not only does it make him feel more on par with the Uchiha, the closer their relationship the more reachable his goal seemed. Standing before him, he exhales deeply at the heavy conversation - he's too used to shoving matters under the rug. ]

I have some things I wanna say too. I think it's best if we keep ourselves from getting our hopes up about them. If it's family, sometimes it's easy to forgive shit that happened in the past.

That said, I don't think he'd hold any sorta grudge against you, Sasuke.

[eyeforaneye]

You don't have a reason to be concerned. I'm not going to get my hopes up. [ It's easier said than done, and he can be a pretty impulsive person. Still, nothing would show on his features should it come to that point only for him to be disappointed; they've both learned from a young age that circumstances didn't always allow them to show what they were thinking. Process it later. ]

... Thanks, Suigetsu. Now come on.

I'm ready to see what you can do with a weapon like that one.

Yeah yeah. [ He smirks. ]

Ha! [ Suigetsu jogs to catch up, patting the heavy gold sword at his hip. ]

Even with this piece of shit substitute, I'm ten times stronger that I was without.

I believe you. It's surprising that you haven't already asked for a break, carrying it around like you are. [ He knows you, bro. ]

Uh yeah. Whaaat, no way, this thing is like super light... [ He snickers and holds his hands up defensively. ]

Look, you'll know when I'm tired. Being in a different place is just sketching me out a bit.

We don't usually go to places that we're familiar with. This shouldn't be an unusual experience for you. [ Sasuke rests a hand on the hilt of his own sword as they round a corner, keeping an eye out. ]

This is different, Sasuke, it's creepier, 'cause there isn't anything from our world here!
