[ This is an open log for those who wish to explore Lachesistein freely, and it can take place any time between July 16th and 26th. This whole scenario has 'T R A P' tattoo'd across it in bright pink comic sans. You can't seriously think that all of our friends just suddenly showed up at this place and decided to deliver letters to our hives without contacting us directly or anyone noticing them lurking about. It's just a little too ridiculous, even for me.

[ We're going to pretend he's been carrying a rucksack the whole time. He dumps the contents out on a table in front of her. A sketchpad, colored pencils, crayons, sea glass, a paopu fruit charm. Things Namine would own. ]

These are all hers! Look! EVIDENCE!!!!!!!!!!!

[ The multiple exclamations points are audible. It's manifest in a practically screeching tone. ]

[ She sniffs around the junk, pocketing the crayons when she's pretty sure America's preoccupied with something else. They are necessary for investigative purposes. Also drawing purposes. But mostly investigative purposes. ]

I don't smell anyone on them. Besides you, of course. And you're not the only one who's been finding shit. [ She pulls a black piece of shattered plastic out of her pocket and lies it on the table, next to Namine's things. ] It doesn't mean either of them are actually here.

She has the opportunity to grab some crayons as America leans in to sniff the piece of plastic. Nothing happens. It's like that episode of Arrested Development where Michael finds a paper bag in the fridge labeled DEAD DOVE, opens it, and says, "I don't know what I was expecting." Of course he doesn't smell anything he doesn't have super senses. ]

I don't smell anything. Anyway, not finding a scent of them doesn't mean something isn't up with them.

Oh, there's definitely something up. But I'm afraid it'll probably be more nefarious than "oh no, our friends and loved ones are kidnapped! Come save them!" The fact that I don't smell anyone on this stuff [ besides your hippy stank ] also applies to the people who left this shit behind. I don't smell them. Which means they're either really clever or this stuff has been waiting in this city for a long time. [ and then she starts licking everything. ]

'Course it's more nefarious than that. I figured if they've got other people here, there's gotta be something up. But supposing for a minute that our friends ain't here: the things are clearly theirs, and people are gathering up stuff that's theirs. So where are they getting it all? If they're drawing it in the same way they drew us in, how d'ya not smell anything from our homes on 'em?

[ he watches her licking in silent fascination for a full minute before he opens his big mouth ]

Okay I gotta ask: why do you lick things? Like I'm all for adventurous tastes and I like tasting new stuff too but you just take it to a whole new level.

Silently he raises a hand and slowly waves it in front of her face to test his theory. ]

he wipes the spitball from his face like it ain't no thang, but frowns at her comment as he manhandles the sketchbook away from her before she can chew on any more of it ]

What would you usually taste? Under normal circumstances. Let's start with that.

You said a little blonde girl wearing white, right? [ damn it give that back, she will now be papping at America's hands to grab hold of the book again. ]

I'm assuming human or some variation of human. [ pap pap pap ] I don't taste any s'more-minus-chocolate little girls!

[ nope, he's got an iron grip on that sketchbook. this guy can lift a car no prob so you'd literally need a crowbar to get it away from him. ]

That sounds... really good, actually. [ now he's hungry for s'mores. BUT BACK TO THE TOPIC AT HAND. ]

Er, okay then. So if she'd touched this, that's what you'd taste, right? But what if someone else did? [ frowning ] Someone had to place these items around. Even if they fell outta the sky through some time vortex, there'd have to be some kind of signature taste on 'em.

[ Daaaaang. He gets the sketchbook, but now she's pocketing the colored pencils in an incredibly obvious manner. Fuck being subtle. ]

Exactly. Which is that's so weird. The most I can taste is this dreary place. So either they're aware of my smell-o-vision, or something stranger is occurring.

[ He frowns, but decides not to snatch the pencils away from the blind girl. He's not that much of an asshole (usually). ]

Wouldn't count out the awareness. The people in charge of Discedo know all sorts of intimate shit. But these are different people, so if there it's about awareness we need to figure out if this is a collaboration between our scientists and theirs, or if there's been a leak.

I've never spoken with the scientists in Discedo. Are they favorable to us, or what? Would they be willing to fuck us over in cooperation with other scientists?

They've changed around for the time I've been here. Earlier ones were straight-up off their rockers. Not the new ones aren't, but most of 'em seem crazy in a good way. The current ones don't seem too bad on the whole. 'Course there's always a bad apple in every bunch. They could be masking friendliness for screwing with us. But since they've been in charge, things have been better. Not great, but not an episode of The Twilight Zone every other week.
