The area is tranquil; calm September weather. It wouldn't be too long now that Sakura would already be here a year, and so far with few casualties--fewer than what could have come. The water may be cold, but after the first plunge, it wasn't as though Sakura bothered to notice or care. Once she comes up for a breath, then back down again.
The surface of the water ripples with life--even if Discedo seemed dead, dark creatures must exist in the murky depths. After that, the surface doesn't break again. She isn't sure how she managed it, but she realizes as the last of her oxygen escapes her that she probably should have realized that she wasn't alone. Just as she secures her bag to her hip, a full force tackle hits her back. There goes her oxygen supply--the next attack is met with a fist, the creature shot out of the water, but that's all Sakura seems to manage. Her clothes are stuck on barbed wire, and though desperate to free herself, she can't find the energy to tear the clothes apart and swim up.
Drowning isn't the worst way to go, she remembers, and she'll be back later.))
