Who: Sai and Ai
Where: Horton Lane Apartments, room #414
When: Last night.
Rating: PG for Fluffiness.
Summary: No matter how well Sai's acting with his cheerful additude, there came a point in which he could no longer act and Ai comes to his comfort.
the log:
Sai: *Just suddenly goes to hug Ai out of the blue.*
Ai: ...? Sai?
Sai: *Just remains hugging her before going sit down, still holding unto her.*
Ai: ... *Places her hand on his head, gently stroking it comfortingly* What is wrong?
Sai: *Goes to say something into her stomach so it comes out muffled.*
Ai: ... *Carefully moves to sit down, so that she is now more on his level and he's not mumbling in her stomach. Her hand trails down to his cheek, and she just looks down at him passively.*
Sai: *Goes to look at her with a sad expression on his face.*
Ai: *Continues to keep her hand there, looking him in the face.* Does it hurt?
Sai: *Goes to slowly nod his head.* Y-Y-Y-Yes.
Ai: *Rubs her thumb lightly against Sai's cheek, before closing her eyes and bowing her head.* I'm so sorry...
Sai: *Reaches up with a hand to take the one that is rubbing his cheek.* Do... You.... *He choakes before speaking very softly.* Like him back?
Ai: *Opens her eyes slowly when Sai reaches up to take her hand.* ... *She looks down at him, thinking carefully before she finally answers. Then she closes her eyes again.* Only as a trusted friend, Sai.
Sai: *Goes to watch her before bowing his own head at the delay in her answer and lets go of her hand. So... She is choosing Chopin over him. He begins to shift in order to stand up again, still keeping his head bowed. Her words stop him from getting up but he pauses.* Just that?
Ai: *Nods her head without hesitation, letting her hand slide down to his shoulder now that he has let go. Her lips frown sadly from the forethought he seemed to have. Is she really that unreliable?* Yes. What reason would I have to be dishonest with you?
Sai: *Begins to tremble, clunching an object in his hand before going to pop it into his mouth, storing it for later.* That you wouldn't want me to go after him. .... Ai... Would you.... *He goes to start scrubbing at his face with his oversize sleeves.* Be happier with him?
Ai: *Puts her other hand on his shoulder, trying to hold him steady. If she notices the object that he pops in his mouth, then she isn't given enough of a glimpse to see what it is. She looks at him sadly as he speaks.* Sai... *She reaches a hand up to brush through his bangs, like a mother would.* If I was with him, then how would I ever be able to be truly happy with what I've done...
Sai: *Goes to shut his eyes tightly as he feels her brushing his hair like that.* But.. *He goes to finally look towards her, tears flowing from his eyes like clear streams of water.* Really?
Ai: *Finally brings her hand up to gently wipe away his tears with her fingertips, her eyes passive and kind even as he cries out all his sorrows.* I will always be by your side, Sai.
Sai: *Remains crying out his sorrows and pain.* A-A-Ai... *He goes to full out start crying and holds out both of his hands towards her.*
Ai: *Leans forward, pulling Sai's head against her chest with one arm while the other wraps around him in a hug. She closes her eyes, leaning her head against his as he cries. Such a kind child, he must have been holding in all this pain for a long time. Ai continues to hold on to him, letting his crying stain her jacket and keeping silent the whole time.*
Sai: *Moves with the ever so gentle pull and lets Ai position him however she wants. He remains crying against her, his whole body shuddering and trembling for each tears coming out of his eyes and he goes to wrap his arms around her in order to return the hug.*
Ai: *Loosens the hand hugging around him to rub up and down his back, trying to help calm him down. Her eyes are still closed, and it pains her to feel his body shaking from underneath her. Her own body doesn't protest at the hug he gives her in return.* Shh... *She whispers quietly.* I am here.
Sai: *Goes to take very deep breaths to try and help in the calming process but his body keeps on shaking underneath Ai's. He goes to give her a gentle squeeze and buries his face against her chest, trying to get himself to stop crying.*
Ai: *Breathes out a soft sigh through her nose, opening her eyes about halfway while he head continues to lean against his. Then she picks her head up, and stops rubbing his back with her head. Instead, she intwines the other arm around him and pulls him into a gentle hug as he buries his face into her chest. She looks down at him, saddened. Maybe she feels responsible for his pain, but at the same time, this was only something she could do. It was all that she could do.* I'm sorry, Sai...
Sai: *Keeps his face buried against her chest, going limp in her gentle embrace. He blinks at her words and goes to look up towards her." Ai....
Ai: *Looks down at him, before closing her eyes and bowing her head slightly.* It hurt you, didn't it? Trying so hard to protect both yourself and me... Never wanting to hurt your remaining and trusted friends with the sadness you hid so carefully away. I couldn't do anything to protect you, even as you tried so hard to protect me. Please forgive me...
Sai: *Continues to shake with all the emotions in his pouring out as he watches her. Hearing her words. They were all true, all the cheerfulness has been an act for that very reason. He continues to look up at Ai and couldn't help but let the tears refall once more.* Ai... Open your eyes... *Should she do that, she would see him sticking out his tongue out at her but at the very tip, a sparkling diamond ring with the diamond and metal restored to it's formal glory.*
Ai: *Drops her arms slowly from around his body, suddenly feeling lost. Her head bowed, and her fists now clenched in frustation over her own weakness. If she had known how Sai let his tears fall for her sake, it would have only broken her heart further. Therefore, it is with some hesitation that she lifts her head up slowly and opens her eyes, looking at Sai's... tongue? Her expression suddenly changes to one of awe, looking down at the diamond ring and then up to Sai with her mouth slightly agape.* This is...
Sai: *Begins to shake quite a bit once the comfort of her arms leaves him. He lets go of her briefly in order to scrub at his sleeves before reaching up with a hand to carefully take the ring from the tip of his tongue and holds it up to her. He then goes to bow his head and forcing his body not to hide the ring again as he holds it out to her.* ... For you, Ai.
Ai: *Almost stops breathing, if only for a few seconds, as he holds the diamond ring up to her. Her eyes are now widened at the sight, and her face has never gained such a look of confusion and awe as it did then. For... her? A light blush begain to creep over, but soon she recovered herself and began to smile. It was that old and familiar smile of kindness, revealing itself as she carefully reached for the ring with her right hand and then clutched it within her palm, bringing it close to her heart.* Thank you. *She said, closing her eyes, and her body trembled slightly. Happy tears began to fill her eyes, as much as she tried to resist their coming* Really, thank you...
Sai: *Goes to slowly raise his head in time to see the blush and then.. The smile. He blinks in confusion as it was her turn to tremble and look like she was going to cry.* Ai? *He reaches up to stroke her cheek and forces a small smile on his own face towards her.* ... You are welcome.
Ai: *Blinks against her tears, causing one of them to roll down her cheek, all while smiling. It is such a rare thing, and she can't help but sigh peacefully as Sai reaches up to stroke her cheek. She sniffs quietly, bringing up her free hand to wipe away any remaining tears. It was so silly for her to cry during a time like this, and it just causes her blush to deepen with embarrassment. Then she brings her hands down into her lap, using one to place the diamond ring on the ring finger of her right hand. Once she is finished, she brings it up to her eyes to look at it once more, before pulling it close to her chest. How long has it been since she felt this happy? She closes her eyes, looking serene. Words fail her.*
