Nurse Nill [Complete]
Who: Nill (
hainesangel) and Haine (
2headedcerberus)
Where: Mariner High School, Clinic
When: Not long after this entry. (Backdated before the chip-flip event.)
Rating: PG for wound and blood references
Summary: During the days that the chimera and the escaped monsters from St. Andrew's Hospital were raging throughout the city, Haine was able to escape from his captor, Giovanni. Worried and injured in both spirit and body, he arranged to meet with Nill at the clinic, where she had been staying during the course of the event. Once there, the two were reunited and Nill helped to treat Haine's injuries from the fighting.
the log:
Haine was lead to the clinic, unwillingly. Once there, he grunted in thanks as he proceeded inwards, jingling all the way. The albino was gritting his teeth to take his mind off the longing pain that won't disappear. He didn't really tend to his own injuries, because of the lack of medical items on hand and running for his life. His white hair had taken a slight red tinge from the blood on his face. Avoiding any females there, until he spotted his angel or she spotted him.
Nill was busy laying a cold compress on the head of one of the injured that had been taken to the clinic. He was resting on a mattress that was laid against the floor of the auditorium, and she rose slowly up to her feet once that was done. At the sound of the jingling, she turned her head to look over her shoulder. She blinked when she saw Haine, and then worry quickly swept over her expression. Nill wasted no time in making her way toward him in a light jog.
Those crimson eyes had caught a glance of the one jogging toward him. From afar, one could tell something was wrong just by noticing his shoulder, lower than usual and the cuff bundled up. Haine managed a pained smile before one eye shut close from the blood running over his eyelid. "...Hey."
Once Nill was close enough, her worried expression only deepened. Oh, Haine... He looked so badly injured by the fighting that went on outside before he reached the clinic. Hesitantly, she took his better hand and gently guided him over to a spot where she could tend to him. She would tell Dr. Weaver about his arrival but... It would probably be best if she was the one to help Haine.
He was lead by the shorter one and proceeded to sit when she gestured. "I'm fine --" He could tend to himself but alas, paused. "...Never mind. Go ahead." Although he would have to set his shoulder back.
Nill didn't look back as she led Haine over to take a seat, not seeming to pay any mind to his complaints. Even if he was able to regenerate she would still do what she could to help him out. Once he was seated, she made a 'Wait here' gesture with her two hands before scurrying off to fetch some supplies from an old first aid kit. Bandages, a cotton ball, antiseptic... She rummaged around, her eyes searching for what she felt would be useful, her wings bobbing as she stooped down over the kit.
There was a slight 'hn' that escaped the albino before unzipping his jacket and tugging it off his injured arm. "...Nill, could you get me something to bite on?" He was going to attempt setting his shoulder back in place even though it laid limply.
"...?" Nill rose back up slowly, the few things that she needed were cradled in her arms. She blinked as she watched him unzip his jacket, giving a small nod of her head at his request. The girl managed the items she carried into one of her two arms, before finding a small package of tiny wooden splints wrapped in paper. Picking it out with a few fingers, she walked back over and held the small package out to Haine, a questionable expression plastered on her face. But what did he need that for...?
"Thanks." He picked up the item from her small fingers before sliding one out and putting it between his teeth. Haine removed the last bit of his jacket before commenting. "....You might want to turning around and cover your ears."
The winged girl blinked at the request. Huh? But... Wait... Nill started to look nervous, turning around to put down the items she was carrying down onto the floor. Then she obeyed his request and put her hands over her ears, but a sinking feeling in her stomach was already telling her what was going on behind her back. With a soft whimper, she closed her eyes and braced herself for what was about to come next.
"....Thanks." He gave a weak smile before it faded, focusing on his task. He used his good arm to shift the dislocated one back, harshly. There was a loud grunt and the sound of the bone being set back. "Ugh!" How awkward~
Nill's body jumped at the sound of Haine's shoulder being set back, draining a bit of the color out of her face. ...Yes, that really was just like she thought. Shaking her head, as if to toss the thought right out of her head, she pulled her hands off her ears and then crouched back down to pick up the items on the floor. With a small grunt, she stood back up and walked over to where he sat, plopping everything down right beside him. Then she picked up the bandage roll, unraveling it as she went over to the injured shoulder. Being a little higher up than she, Nill had to stand up on her tippy-toes in order to get the bandage the whole way around Haine's shoulder. "......"
"You'd think I would be used to pain." He murmured. His good hand trailing across the ruined neck bandage he wore to cover his secret. Tangling with a nurse who had a scalpel, she just barely scraped the metal collar. "But instead, I guess it makes me more human than a freak of nature. Badou would probably be laughing at me..."
Quietly, Nill continued to roll the bandage around Haine's shoulder, making sure it was taut but not tight enough to cut off any circulation. She didn't want to make him uncomfortable, and Dr. Weaver was able to give her a few pointers along the way. - She ended up picking up on a few things out of necessity more than usefulness. Once it was covered well, she ripped the roll away at the end and then knotted the bandage so that it held firmly in place. Looking up, she gave a small smile at the comment over Badou, just shaking her head slowly. Always so eager to kick himself down.
With a small flush of embarrassment, Nill held the bandage roll out for Haine to take. She noticed the ruined neck bandage, but that spot was a little high for her. He will have to help himself if he wants to get the job done right.
"Thanks, Nill." He proceeded to take the bandages and yank off the old ones. Those old scars and that worn metal collar visible once more to the temperature. He had already removed the wood from his teeth and started to unroll the gauze, only to stop when he realized that he had one hand to work with. "...Well, shit." Haine grumbled under his own breath.
Nill sulked at the sight of Haine's neck. It was such a sad memory for him, and so she felt pained by the sight of it. But then as soon as his realization filtered through, so did hers. "...!" Ugh. Stupid. She flustered and gave an apologetic nod of her head. She frowned to herself. So how was this going to... Then she had an idea, and looked up to him, gesturing that he try to kneel down on the floor for a second so that they could both be on the same level. That way, she would be able to help him.
He blinked at the nod and the gesture before giving a nod back. "...Okay." He rose with no difficulty before kneeling on the ground in front of his angel as his lower half of his injured arm was unable to help assist in balance. There was a little bit of blood there, around the metal and on an old scar as his white hair continued to stain from the unattended cut upon his forehead.
The winged girl nodded her head as Haine kneeled down on the ground in front of her, and then she turned away to go pick up the bottle of antiseptic and the cotton ball. With her back turned, she unscrewed the top of the bottle and then tipped it over to dampen the cotton ball in her other hand. Once that was done, she screwed the top back on and carefully set it down. Taking up the bandage in one hand and the soaked cotton ball in the other, she decided to start with the cut on his forehead first, now that he was on her level. Nill raised her index finger up to Haine as a warning. This might sting a little... She carefully reached forward and started to dab at the cut on his forehead lightly, cleaning the wound and the blood that had dried onto his skin in between those bangs of white hair.
During that time, the albino used the back of his hand to wipe off the smear of blood across his pale eyelid. The last thing Haine wanted was some chemical to get in in his eye. "Tch." At the slight stinging. "...Thanks. Even if I'm a bit useless like this."
Nill dabbed at the wound carefully, trying to make sure that the antiseptic didn't dribble down into Haine's eye... That would be pretty bad. She gave Haine a small smile, shaking her head at the comment. He didn't need to worry about anything. Once she was done with the cleaning, she ripped off a small section of the bandage and stuck it over the wound on his forehead to stop any further bleeding. Now for his neck... She began to walk around behind him, beginning to dab away at it and the metal collar fixed to the back of his neck with the damp cotton ball. The antiseptic didn't hurt as much this time, but probably felt cool against his skin.
Indeed. Which caused the albino to slightly bristle at the touch, the metal buzzing softly. "Ha..." He tried to repress the urge to shudder. To recollect himself, he became silent and shut his eyes.
Nill paused as Haine tensed at the touch of the antiseptic on his skin, giving a worried look. But after a few seconds she continued cleaning off the dried blood, and then put the slightly red-stained cotton ball down by the bottle of antiseptic. Unraveling the bandage roll between her two hands, she slowly swept it around the back of his neck, pulling it around from the back to the front in a few loops until it resembled Haine's former binding. Once his neck was fully covered, she carefully ripped the roll away from the end of the bandage, tucking the loose end carefully among the other layers. She didn't want to risk hurting or choking him with any attempt at tying a tight knot. - Finally finished with her work, she exhaled a quiet sigh of relief, peeking out from behind Haine to see how he was holding up.
The albino opened his eyes once she was finished. "...You did fine." He flashed a small smile to her before rising back to his feet. Still, there was the broken arm bit. Haine lifted his injured one with his good one, grimacing slightly. "...First time for everything." He sat down on the mattress once again before looking to his angel. "Nill, I need some splints."
The winged girl couldn't help but beam at the compliment, and then moved to stand beside him as he rose back up to his feet. Only... She gave a small gasp as Haine toyed with his broken arm, bringing her hands to her lips, bandage in the one hand and all. Oh, Haine... Just what happened to you out there? She gave him a worried look as he sat back down on the mattress, and nodded her head as he asked for some splints. She moved back to scoop up all the items she was using from before up into her arms and then scampered off to try to find what he needed. Splints, splints...
"...For a brace." He added, looking at the broken arm. One part of him was waiting for the bones to reform with sickening sounds, just like old times. "...I'm sorry for disappearing like that... When you needed me the most. Tch!"
It took a few minutes for the girl to find something suitable, but sure enough, Nill returned with a short, sturdy piece of wood that could be used as a splint. Nill had it tucked under one arm until she could hold it against the part that was broken. Before she began, however, she reached over with a free hand and put it on top of one of Haine's. With her eyes closed, she had an expression of peace. It was all right now, he shouldn't have to regret what has already come to pass anymore. Nill gave his hand a small squeeze before she opened her eyes, turning to his side and using both hands to wind the bandage around the broken arm and the splint.
A voice inside his head mocked him briefly about that before it was silenced with a quiet 'shut up'. Before Nill could ask him with those blue eyes, the albino retorted. "Thanks, I really appreciate this."
Nill smiled as she finished up, the roll of bandage all used up and the rest of it being tied into a firm knot along the outside of Haine's broken arm. Her work finally complete, the winged girl breathed out a sigh and then moved to sit down beside him on the mattress, pulled her hands into her lap. Then the winged girl closed her eyes again, taking a moment to relax while she could afford to. All the time that she had been stuck here, Nill has been doing her best to try to help everyone.
"...I'm glad you're not hurt." He spoke after some silence, turning to her. "During all this chaos."
"...." Nill opened her eyes, nodding as she looked down at her hands. No, she didn't get hurt, at least not on the outside... Still, she watched one of her precious friends die right in front of her, and that was something that was going to leave her scarred with misery for awhile. It was just like when Haine almost... The girl shuddered involuntarily, as if a cool breeze suddenly hit her from behind, and sniffled. No, she wasn't going to cry here. Not when Haine seemed this worried about what had happened. Forcing a half-smile she looked up at Haine and then reached a hand out as if to touch his broken arm, but then she pulled back. Does it... hurt?
Haine blinked when she sniffled. "...Did I say something wrong?" Although he flinched quite a bit at the touch. "Tch..." It still stung.
She paused, and then shook her head. "....." No, not really. She had no way of explaining it all to him like this anyhow. Looking ahead, she pushed herself off the mattress with her hands, letting her feet touch down on the floor. Nill turned her head to look up to him, bowing her head. She really shouldn't let herself be idle for this long, and it would be best if Haine decided to rest for awhile. Unable to use her words, she moved her hand out with the palm down, trying to tell him to lie down. Then, taking a few steps away, she looked at him. Please don't disappear while she is gone...
The albino watched her go. "...I'm not going anywhere." He spoke before moving slowly to lay down on the bed, after snagging his jacket to use as a blanket and closed his eyes.
