Event Log: Talent Show Time!
Who: OPEN- All Talent Show Attendees
Where: Mariner High School Cafeteria
When: Tuesday Evening
Rating: Family Friendly? (Then again, Yzma's gonna vamp it up...) So ah...PG?
Summary: Discedo has its first dinner-and-talent night. Entertainment is had by all. (Note: Demyx will do some intros to invite the 'acts' to start their own threads, audience response posts can go wherever appropriate. Act listing can be found here)
the log:
The cafeteria was as close as ever it would be to it's expected capacity. Eight long tables with styrofoam trays of make-do meals, which didn't look half bad considering the usual daily fare of Discedo. In fact, it was the closest they'd come to anything vaguely resembling communal feast in a long time.
Opening act, Discedo's first-founded band Float, had gotten first dibs on the food line, in order to get themselves set up to play an overture of sorts. So there they were on the cleared out floor, Demyx pulling a droning base line on Sitar, Johnny and Jiro on Guitar, Ness on Drums and Iroh doing his mean Tsungi horn solos, with Linda their 'Starlette Singer' front and center.
The song, controversially enough, was about Discedo's Public Enemy #1 of the hour, Evil King Stan. It was an orginal (or perhaps the eight verses were a very vague pop re-rendering of 'Mack the Knife', if one listened closely) with the infernal rhythmic catchiness which would keep it stuck in everyone's heads for days after.
But the power ballad's lyrics, however enthusiastically belted out by the Teen Idol Evil King, had the tone of heavy tongue-in-cheek tweaking that only the band's coordinator could have snuck by her convincingly, and he would probably get a good microphone beating for it later, if she ever managed to figure out that the thing was mostly a satire of sorts.
It had lots of 'Conquer', it has lots of peppy touting of Stan's 'Power and Dominion', it had lots of 'awe-inspiring fear' and 'terror that lurks in the shadows' and the chorus referred to him as a 'Totally Evil Stud' and 'Lord of Chaos'.
...And just think folks. This was just the opener.
