The Log:

Everything was finally starting to weigh down on the teen. In all reality, Lelouch felt far older than a mere eighteen years of age at the current moment. Of course he had faced many events that most would never see in their day. He had committed acts and sins that not many would be capable of doing. The demon emperor knew full well that there would be consequences for the actions that he took. While they might have been for the greater good, justice would prevail in the end. It had to, for the sake of peace for his home and everyone that he had ever cared for. Death was certainly a reasonable punishment, was it not? That had been the correct decision, hadn’t it? When all Lelouch wanted was to live and be with his sister in a peaceful world… Depriving him of that was true justice, right?

Then why was he suddenly uncertain? Why was his heart aching and mind clouded? It would not change the fact that he would still have Suzaku end his existence. Yet here, in this forsaken place, it was completely different. Here there were ghosts of his past. Here had those from his future that already knew what exactly had happened. His lies were falling on deaf ears. Lelouch had meant to be hated for the rest of eternity… Yet the ones that should hate him the most were now the ones that were telling him this was a second chance. They told the former prince that he should accept it and take it for all it was worth, despite everything that he had done, every sin he had committed. Baffled, he was. How on earth could he simply accept it just like that when there were those, like Euphemia, that deserved a chance instead of him? How could he justify taking advantage of this opportunity? Despite what Kallen said… Why? It was beyond the teenager’s understanding as to why Nunnally still loved him, still wanted him. Euphemia as well…

Euphemia was another matter entirely. All the lies… He had to keep them coming. There was no way that he could possibly permit her to know what really happened. Suzaku was already falling apart at the seams with her presence, not that Lelouch could truly fault his former Knight of Zero for that. Lelouch understood that more than he would ever let his childhood friend know. Kallen was now aware and the former prince only hoped that Kallen could forgive Euphy… Nina too. His vigilance over keeping communications between them all monitored left him feeling weary. Lelouch was never one to sleep more than three hours a night. However now he was receiving less than that. He found himself nodding off here and there. With Rolo around, that was not a good idea. The boy would start to worry all over again.

This was why he traveled to his current location, a chair in the library. Lelouch ignored the smoky smell that still lingered from about a month previously. His attention was purely focused on a copy of “The Prince,” a favorite read of his. Violet eyes drank in the familiar words, his gun simply resting at his side. One could never be unprepared here. The Geass user knew that one well by now. His jaw rested on his knuckles, elbow propped up on the arm. If anything, he wanted some time to himself to get his thoughts sorted. However, it ended up more of a time to flee his current situation. Certainly they could do without him for one afternoon?

Though, despite himself, his tiredness actually caught up with him. Dark eyelashes soon fluttered shut. His breathing evened out and Lelouch was actually taking a nap, words on the page forgotten.
