the log:

Any other night he would have said it was beautiful. Any other night he would have said it was perfect. For the hunt. For the kill. For the spoils. Any other night but this. For this was no hunt for sport or recreation or even hunger or need.

This night was for punishment.

For retribution.

For patriarchal duty.

As a crimson specter that had a penchant to saunter such deep woods like a creature of legend, his steps were swift and soundless. Every breath was filled with the scent of ash and the blood of multiple victims, not monster or beast, but humans the devil he hunted cherished in another mind. And the vampire sought to remind himself of that. That the devil that harbored his son was just that: Another mind, another facet of existence in him.. Just like his own.. The Bloodlust, the craving.. the thing he would become when his master's fetters were broken.

The true Original Monster.

Never would he wish such a fate on his own child. To die a reckless, bloodlusting, animal. With his own blood singing, he vowed to create a chain of his own. A shackle that would ensnare the beast and lock it down tight, till his son would become it's only master.

Breaking past a clearing, the hunter came to a halt, his senses flaring as he whirled about, ember-like eyes bright in the night like two shining orbs of fire streaking back and forth. A sight that danced as they searched the dark as if it were light as high noon.

"Is it not that time, Krsnik?"

With that denounced and cursed name again.

"Do not tell me you have had your fill on the weak corpses of humans!"

The vampire called out into the night.

"Even your brother.. your flesh, your blood, even he cannot compare with the feast I have brought you!"

A feast of bullets that would rain like fire from the heavens. When he was through, after what he would do, that beast would plea to be tossed back through the gates of Hell.
