Jake Marshall wandered aimlessly across the landscape of the ruined city and took in the fresh air. While he wasn't entirely prepared to abandon his "lone wolf" behavior, he didn't seen the harm in taking walks every so often. It was a change of pace from the apartment or Northern Lights, anyhow; something new to see, something new to do. Not to mention, it gave him a chance to collect hit thoughts.

The cowboy had plenty to mull on. He'd finally given into the requests of the others and agreed to move in with them-- if only after a few days, which Lana had graciously allowed in her stubborn refusal to leave the Latimir lobby without his consent to do so. Even though he'd acquiesced, she was still hanging around his apartment until he finally moved out. It was kind of nice, he had to admit, just the two of them. He expected things to be noisier and certain more rowdy when he finally kept his word and moved (if the previous transmissions on his communicator and stories taught him anything), so he figured he better appreciate what he had while he did.

He sighed. Mostly he was happy she had agreed to wait long enough for the twenty-first to come and go. Jake hadn't been looking forward to seeing too many people that day and things seemed to have worked out in his favor. He really didn't have any excuse now not to go with the others; didn't wagon trails always circle around to protect each other from Indian attacks? He chuckled to himself as he thought of that analogy. Too bad there wasn't anyone around to hear it.
