the log:

It was frustrating, he decided. Yes, there were many planets that had more than one moon (for a time, it was even debated that the Earth had two moons. Or would be, he thought. Depending on when you considered the 'present' to be -- he'd found the TARDIS was being particularly obstinate about that -- once he had found her, that was). Tilting his head slightly, he shot the sky a cursory glance. Frustrating was the perfect word. He couldn't place the star system. Now, it wasn't entirely unusual (in fact, it was annoyingly usual) to find there were things that he had the nagging feeling he should know, remember and reel off without as much as a figurative or literal nudge, but stars weren't one of them. Or so he'd thought, at least for a time.

Lips quirking for a moment, he idly contemplated the rather childlike thought that it was simply that he'd had enough of remembering and that his mind was choosing which information was the most important and relevant for him, without him. (Although, he had the feeling, much like he'd had dreams that had felt like memories, that he'd been certain weren't memories but had felt too much like them for him to be entirely sure what they were -- besides nonsensical -- whilst he'd been on Earth for those one hundred years, that he'd never believed in such a thing as a child, or if he'd entertained the thought it hadn't been for very long, or it had been with a mischievous kind of wonder that he'd love to exploit it.)

But when it came down to it, whilst he did find the idea of being here (an unknown place in a relatively unknown time) interesting and exciting, he couldn't quite manage to whip up the same fervour when he knew that Fitz and Anji were on their own -- and he had no idea where or when, not when he had the TARDIS, not when the problem with realities remained. He presumed they were still on Earth, but if that were the case, it was still the wrong Earth and the wrong time entirely for the both of them.

And then there was the matter of the 'chips'. It was, he'd found, oddly (and disturbingly) similar to being without his second heart, the only comfort being that he did have his heart.

But, but, he supposed, that didn't really matter. Not right now. What mattered was Discedo and distractions, he thought, were always wonderful. Finding his way around the city, in as poor shape as it appeared to be, was a perfect distraction.
