Chip Event, Part 2.

Who: Open.
Where: Horizon Park.
When: This morning, about 9am?
Rating: PG-13 for possible language, subject to change.
Summary: Okay, so the Fireball yesterday didn't go so well, but what could go wrong testing an ice spell- oh, well. Maybe people will like the park as an ice rink?
the log:

To all appearances, Lina was simply out for a morning stroll in the park, getting some fresh air.

To anyone who knew her well, the fact that she was willingly out in the rain at this time of year would be enough to rouse suspicion. Lina and cool, wet weather did not get along, to say the least.

However, she had decided that a new day was a time to test another spell - the weirdness with her magic couldn't go on forever, right? Right.

... Although, after the incident with the Fireball, even she had to admit a less potentially destructive test was in order. Even if it seemed to undermine the point of checking her magic.

A quick look around the park assured her she was alone for the moment, to her relief. Bystanders tended to be problematic when spells were flying, and anyway it'd be tricky to explain it if something went wrong like yesterday.

She looked around once more, picked what she deemed to be a good spot, and cast her spell.

"Freeze Arrow!"

And it felt normal, the shards of ice flying and properly freezing the tree that was her victim. The power level had been exactly what she expected of the spell.

... Of course, one couldn't draw conclusions from a single test. Chanting under her breath, she let fly with another Freeze Arrow.

And promptly started swearing as twice the usual count of projectiles formed and flew, ice rapidly creeping over the park and towards her. So much for her powers being back to normal. A quick, habitual, use of a Levitation spell had her rising (unsteadily) over the park, just as the frost was forming on her boots.

... Well, the whole park was covered in ice, but it was better than the results of the Fireball. People probably even wouldn't mind all the ice. There wasn't even any property damage, so they had nothing to complain about! Right? Right. Definitely. No reason for an angry mob.

But still, it wouldn't hurt to be somewhere else very shortly. Concentrating on her spell, she took off - only to yelp and crash down through the trees as the Levitation spell abruptly gave out. She was definitely going to have bruises from that, and the cursing from her as she dragged herself to her feet would probably startle more than a few people.

Honestly, it just wasn't her week, was it?
