The Log:

((The message probably came around noon: hey! the blind dates will be tonight at seven. make sure you dress warm, it was pretty chilly last year. thanks for signing up! Now, for some of you might have come as a surprise: "I was signed up for what?" though others already know it was coming for them. Either way, you chose to see exactly what it was you were signed up for. Perhaps a secret lover wanted to meet up with you and were too shy to ask? Wherever you come from, the roof of Latimir is your destination.

The weather was only so-so. Winds blow over the cold roof, table cloths of low quality shutter at their touch. It seems Greece has a campfires set up in three place carefully protected by metal bases to prevent fire damage, and around each tables are set up. At the very center, Greece is sitting, and when he sees someone approach, smiles, bringing him or her to the designated spot. He'll bring the small dinner when your date has arrived! He returns to his spot, clearly attending a soup at the center of the event.

The table seems to be set with only a paper flower set in a small dish. Your number, in black, fading marker stands upright before you, and your partner's number sits across from you. Around you may be the other guests, whom you may approach and talk with if you see fit.

If you look at the other side of the card, you may find a few hints and tips to get conversation going. "Cats" "I can kick your ass" "Scones" "Flowers" and the like are scribbled onto every card.

It's a bit nerve wrecking to arrive before your date, but don't be too worried. Eventually, he or she will show up, and if you were lucky, your date and you won't already hate eachother. It's funny how things work.

[ Right, well, given what he's now seen of Clive's memories he's not exactly feeling terribly trusting. Imagine that. ]

Escorting Flora. ((he gestures, and of course, she's a number of tables away.)) She was messaged with a number, and felt awful that she would have to stand him up. Obviously she was convinced to come.

I thought it would be a good chance for her to make a few more friends. ((a light smile.))

[ Immediately Sasuke's gaze travels where Clive had indicated, indeed seeing Flora. Yet again that memory returns... He thinks to possibly go over and speak to her, deciding against it for now. ]

She will not have to work much. [ No, Flora is that sort of person that's difficult to dislike, probably. ]

No.... Flora is a wonderful person because of that. She's simply just shy; I've been teaching her as best I can to change that. ...A shame it won't matter when she's returned home, but I would like to make her happy as long as I can, even if it is a bit futile. ((the saddest smile ever. He keeps his gaze focused a little longer.))

Should you teach her? [ Ouch. Tact and kindness are pretty far beyond him, that's safe to say. Honesty and opinions are both things he has in spades, at least. ]

Did you make her happy, before? In your world... you did not.

((Smile? GONE. He glances at Sasuke.))

...((his lips move a little and he readjusts himself to see Sasuke more clearly.))

I think, though I did hurt her as a result, I did at some point make Flora happy in our own world. Otherwise, she would not have forgiven me. And you're right to question whether or not I should be allowed to teach her, but who else would? I, at least, know how to socialize.

Ah, yes! You could say I'm working on my honesty at the moment.

[ He fiddles a bit with that new earring, stopping when he noticed. ]

... Yes. I'm surprised you remember that. I haven't drank so much in years.

[ The drinking? Oh no, he remembers very little of that. It's sort of disturbing for him, actually. ]

No. I thought it before. [ Sasuke shakes his head; don't make fun of his weird English, either. ] It was my first drink.

((A smile and laugh.)) I should have guessed. I'm terribly sorry about what happened, but we just have to make due with our mistakes, unfortunately. ((he taps the earring.)) Let me be more optimistic about this. Perhaps it will go unnoticed if they ever do send us home. A small token or reminder of the things that have passed here.

Flora laughed.

She is kinder than us. [ A generic statement, maybe true, maybe not. They'd all been through different things, after all. Seeing a little bit of Clive's life before causes him to feel a mixture of distate and respect for him, oddly enough. ]

I am having it stay. [ In reference to the earring, of course. ]

[abstruse]

Likewise--Ah, I plan to do the same.

((Quiet. He's a little anxious. How much does Sasuke know? He had his own secret stash of information on the young man himself, but he could never think--as a gentleman--to bring it up.))

[ Sasuke is perfectly willing to let him mull it over and suffer until he gets the guts to ask. Sasuke would be asking a lot of questions himself if he knew that Clive had also seen some things. ]

All this... how stupid. [ He's looking around again, the concept of a "blind date" a little lost on him, really. ]

It's a social event to make friends. I highly doubt any of these people will actually get together at any point. The matches are almost incompetent. If you look there, we've a grown woman with a teenage boy. Hmph.

They aren't always relationship-things either. I've dated plenty of women I had no attraction to, and they ended up being very useful to me as people and companions.
