Where: The warped tea garden that might be in another dimension but might not be you don't really know there's just flowers all over the place (read: who the hell knows)

The Log:

Looks like you've made it, curious travelers, to wherever and whatever "it" might be. Seems like a garden. A vaguely tacky garden that may have been sculpted by a colorblind landscape designer or a habitual acid user. Ignoring the chaotic flowerbeds, bright sunlight, and constant rattle of trees in a lazy breeze that could collectively induce a headache, it might actually be a pleasant place to relax. Hell, there's even a quaint little table set up for you!

Tea, toast, jams, cinnamon spreads, a whole assortment of not-quite-filling-but-still-tasty treats await. There's even those cucumber sandwiches that no one really wants to eat but still puts on their plate to pretend to be a classy motherfucker at fancy events.

Go ahead and take a seat. Relax. Then maybe you'll notice the silent films. Hey, at least they've got subtitles. It's not quite The Artist, but it's interesting. Never hurts to learn a bit of history. It might help with the future.

Ah, but no time to be too pessimistic or anxious about the inevitably turbulent future ahead of you. There's that scientist girl. You know the one. Currently she's wearing yet another bizarre hat (see: the plot post), unnecessary sunglasses, and is chewing on some of those cucumber sandwiches. Mouth open, of course. She's the sort of person you know wasn't invited to the party, but doesn't quite get the hint that they should leave. Even worse, she doesn't get the hint that maybe she shouldn't harass the other guests with her opinions on life, the universe, films, and cucumber sandwiches. You'll probably get the feeling that, at some point, this will transpire over the course of the shindig:



Godspeed to those who get extensive conversations with this social pariah.

But, on the bright side, it seems like a lovely day in... wherever this is. May as well mingle with other baffled (and possibly hostile) party goers (read: other characters) and enjoy the day.

{The Doctor is currently investigating the landscape of this strange garden. He's watched all the films twice, tasted the grass (yea, you heard me), and is now poking things with a stick. He looks vaguely unnerved by that last bit, but that's mostly because he has to resort to poking things with a stick with an ACTUAL stick, since his screwdriver is still broken.

He's also periodically snagging Jammie Dodgers from the table, having determined that everything is safe to eat.
He determined this by trying bits of everything, but that's beside the point.}

[ Ange isn't entirely sure what's going on here. The films are what seems the most useful though, so she's been watching those for a while, but after some time it feels like she won't learn more from them even if she'd watch them more by now.

... Then there's this guy. Right, the weird guy she talked to before, and now he's.. poking things with a stick. .. Totally normal. ]

Would it be a weird thing to ask what you're doing right now?

I'm investigating! Strange place, suddenly appearing? Can't help but wonder where it came from and what it's doing here.

[entreats]

Of course, that's what we're all wondering. But.. I can't help but question your methods a little.

[ she gestures at the stick. ]

Nothing better to poke things with than with a stick, eh?

[entreats]

I don't doubt that the stick must be a very mighty and powerful instrument. [ yes, it's a little sarcastic.. mostly just deadpan, though. ]

But does poking things really give some reaction from them?

[allthecoolgear]

Sometimes.
In fact no, not really, but what else do you suggest?

[entreats]

... [ a sigh. ]

If you'd ask me, there's more worth in these movies than the other stuff here. There seems to be nothing special about all of that, but these people talking..

[Conan pauses from his own investigations to watch this.]

What are you doing?

Investigating, of course!

You're poking the plants with a stick.

[allthecoolgear]

Well, yes! I can't just poke them with my hands, I don't know what they are.

[modernholmes]

How is poking them supposed to assist with that?

Well, it tells me whether or not they're dangerous to touch.

You know there are better ways to investigate than poking them with sticks.

I know! But none of those better ways are available to me at the moment, so this'll have to do.

Oh? And how would you usually investigate an area like this?

[ Ohhhhh now this is the kind of inquisitive behavior that Evan can get behind.

By "get behind" I of course mean literally get behind and invade personal space. ]

Careful, I think there's some foxglove in there somewhere. What you really need to try are these sandwiches.

[ Pretty much stuffing a whole cucumber sandwich in her mouth. So classy. ]

Really? Foxglove grows here? I'll have to investigate that...

But I've already had the sandwitches. I prefer the Jammie Dodgers. {He takes one and pops it in his mouth.}

Really.

[ She pokes curiously at the Jammy Dodgers, then shoves one in her mouth.

After a minute of loud chewing she nods approvingly. ]

Not too bad.

[ The next one she dips in her tea before eating. ]

Really, humans make some of the best sweets. {He eats another.}

Oh, I dunno. I bet other species have got some culinary tricks up their sleeves.

Not a doubt in my mind that they do! I've had some wonderful sweets from different planets before, like the sugar-glass from Halibard 4, but Earth sweets are most definately some of my favorites!

Sugar-glass? [ she scrunches up her nose. ] Sounds painful. Tell me more.

[ she leans in with her chin in her hands. MUST LEARN EVERYTHING ABOUT OTHER CULTURES. ]
