keeping secrets is dangerous business [CLOSED]
Who: Kurosaki Ichigo [
panoplied] Asano Keigo [
superficialness]
Where: Down in the Sewers
When: After this post, little later in the day
Rating: PG-13, for swearing and possibly some violence
Summary: After running into some Large Chimeras, Ichigo and Keigo chat it up
the log:
That had gone worse than expected.
Ichigo watched as the last of the creatures died and he swept Zangetsu sharply to shake the blood off. He really hadn't expected anything like them, especially not in the numbers that had arrived, and Ichigo felt disoriented from the fight. Either his powers weren't quite back in normal condition-- something that had been entirely possible as Simon had said the stabilizing process could have taken 10 days and it'd only been a week-- or the monsters here were really something else. Either way, he'd had to do the one thing he really had hoped not to do, least of all in front of one of his friends. He'd had to use his hollow's powers, and the mask that still donned his face had been pulled down with only the slightest reluctance after he'd told Keigo to stay back from the fight.
Re-summoning the mask might become difficult, or perhaps even impossible, and so he didn't crush it just yet. Who knew if more of those beasts would appear? Removing the mask would leave both himself and Keigo in a bad position should anything attack them, what with his own reiatsu diminishing greatly after the mask was gone. So, it would have to stay. Ichigo hadn't looked yet at Keigo since he pulled the mask over his eyes, and if he wanted to be honest with himself, he dreaded it. The look on Inoue's face, one of absolute terror, was still fresh in his mind and no matter how reassuring she'd been after the fact, it was not something he wanted to relive any time soon.
Too bad, apparently. Ichigo trudged through the rushing water of the sewers back towards Keigo, fresh clothes from his bankai release already soaked in the water and the blood of whatever those things had been. It didn't matter, that couldn't have possibly been as intimidating as the expressionless black and yellow eyes that stared out of the slits of his mask. Ichigo had never really taken a look at himself while in this state, but if his experience with Hiyori had been any indicator, then he could see why Inoue was so upset. He stopped a few feet from Keigo and glanced up and down the sewer to see if there was any other immediate threats for now. Nothing, it seemed.
Time to bite the bullet, then. He was ready for the negative reaction, ready to apologize and look away and hopefully Keigo'd wait to freak out fully until they were out of immediate danger. Ichigo looked over at Keigo, and grit his teeth awkwardly behind his mask. "Are you alright Keigo?" Ichigo's voice came out clear as normal, if a little gruff, despite the mouth of the mask not moving, and Ichigo tightened his grip on Tessa Zangetsu to steady himself.
This had been a terrible idea.
