Summary: Ryoko wants to go out drinking and mingling and is dragging Denzel along
The Log:

An object in motion wants to stay in motion, and that was exactly what Denzel's body was all the way from their penthouse, to the bar. If only if the poor man wasn't so thin, he'd could actually get away, "For the thousandth time, I don't drink!"

Helen had been in the bar hoping for something to take her mind off of home. She watched the scene unfolding before her with a mixture of amusement and concern. She's not certain she's ever seen a sane human trying to gnaw his own arm off without excellent reason.

"Not much of a drinker?"

Denzel stops gnawing for a moment and flips out, he would had fallen onto the floor had it not been for the resistant before turning in the direction of the voice, "No." Distress brows before a beat, "What are you doing here?"

"What does one ordinarily do in a bar?"

Denzel looks over, wondering if that was addressed to someone else before replying, "Heck do I know.... Drink?"

"Then that's why I'm here." She smiles again, clasping her hands in front of herself. "But it seems you're here for a different purpose?"

He continues to frown, "What do you think?" Nodding his head off to the side, at Ryoko. It was obvoius she wasn't letting him go, his eyebrows in distress create wrinkles in his forehead.

"I think," she starts, amusement beginning to win out over her confusion, "that your situation might be far more pleasant with a drink or two."

"Then you have them. I'm sure as heck am not."

"Stubborn, as well." She watches him a moment. "However, I do believe drinking might be a more effective means of escape."

[crackpotcrocker]

"Persistent, admirable. FAIRIES!" Pause, "And I, on the other hand think the after effects aren't worth it." Distress brows, prehaps, he has done this a bit before, "I'll never understand the fondness of this so called drinking." Then again if he wasn't so underweight and able to pass out from a shot....

Another pause, "Is that why you like it?"

Don't mind the slightly confused look. She didn't recall any mention of fairies. "I'll admit, it's an acquired taste."

It took her a moment to answer, considering. "Today? I believe it is."

A confused look at her confused look, he doesn't know what he did or rather that he 'ticked'

"Yes, like shrimp puffs." How he missed those, there's a groan.

"Help, yourself. I'm not going to stop you."
There's a pause, "So, what brings you here?"

That earned a soft laugh, and she glanced back toward the bar. "I wasn't expecting you to. Though you're certainly welcome to join me."

The second question required more thought. "I thought perhaps I would dull some memories."

Denzel covers one of his ears, "Stop laughing at me!" Pause, "Why would you want me to join you?"

There's a pause, "As tempting as it sounds... I'll have to pass." Fiddling his free fingers on the bar table. Then back at her, small talk so hard, "So... how have you adjusted to this place?"

Not a problem!

She did make an attempt to hide her amusement, though it might have been less than successful.

"Suit yourself." She considers that a moment, finally shaking her head. "As well as can be expected. I might be more inclined to settle if they hadn't so carelessly toyed with my mind."

"STOP IT!" Apparently someone doesn't like to be the amusement.

There's a pause as he eyes her directly, "I don't like them either." Spitting out venom.

She eyes him with a mixture of confusion and concern. "Of course."

"I don't believe I've met anyone who does."

"I am not here to be laughed at."

[He eyes her for a moment with a pause] "I didn't like scientists before I arrived here." In his sub text, being here has just made him hate scientists more.

Another pause, "Akward silence.... What's your universe like, hmmm?"

"Not all scientists are so cruel or difficult to trust."

But she will move on without adding that she is a scientist, herself. "Earth. Cities, bustling with people. Everyone going about their life with no understanding of the world they live in."

"People in general are cruel and difficult to trust. Scientists are just worse."

Whether or not Denzel was a scientist was a debatable, he certainly looked the part. Pink shirt, with pens in the pocket, those glasses. Ok, maybe more a stereotype nerd but still. At the very least he did not identify himself as one of them. After all, what scientist believes in magic and has emotions?

Pause, "So, nothing supernatural?"

"Yet this is the world we must live in."

She could make an argument that scientists simply believe in a different sort of magic. And that many of them most certainly had emotions.

"I suppose that would depend on how you define supernatural ability."

Denzel makes a diguisted groan. His blue eyes appearing cold and distant from behind his lenses.

"A child wishing to switch bodies for starters. Transforming the world into a - COMIC BOOK!"

"While I've witnessed incredible abilities, I can't claim to have ever known anyone to transform the entire planet."

Denzel turns his head, and lowers his face, his eyes eyeing upwards at Helen behind his glasses. He pauses for a moment before, "Do tell."

"I work with creatures known to myth and legend, creatures many choose to believe do not exist. I've known individuals capable of reading your most deeply hidden thoughts and those powerful enough to destroy entire continents. Each has something to teach us."
